This drawing depicts an iconic veduta of St. Petersburg, looking across the Neva River to the Hermitage Plaza with the Winter Palace, Admiralty Building & Alexander Column anchoring the view. This drawing was constructed on Auto Cad through combining historic documentation of each depicted building with on site measurements to create one cohesive image of the city. The boarder of the veduta is an excerpt from Aleksander Pushkin’s infamous poem, The Bronze Horseman, a poem which has had a lasting imprint on Russian Literature. The selected excerpt paints a picture of the splendor of St. Petersburg. The drawing and poem combined reflect the elaborate & ornate architectural aesthetic which composes the city known as the “Window to the West.”
