dD+P led a large project team on numerous projects at the existing Trenton rail complex in New Jersey’s capital. These projects included design for renovations and 34,000 SF of new additions, ultimately resulting in the upgraded Trenton Transit Center.
The design improves station circulation and passenger experience while transforming the facility into a civic landmark worthy of a state capital. The new facility is completely accessible and fully integrated into its surrounding community providing a new multi-modal complex.
Trenton Transit Center provides larger waiting areas, new retail spaces, accessible restrooms, and a new public plaza that facilitates pedestrian flow to bus and light rail connections. The facility utilizes sustainable materials, provides civic works of arts in transit, and offers a renewed focus on downtown Trenton.
The NJ Transit system is a major reason New Jersey’s economy is among the strongest in the nation — the new Trenton Transit Center reinforces Trenton’s status as a major transportation hub.
