This firehouse aims to bring together old and new - using a traditional brick materiality for the Work (Apparatus Bay + Support) and red perforated metal panels for the Living (private facilities for the fire fighters). The work and live are separated for the benefit of the firefighters, connected with three conventional fire poles for direct accessibility to the Apparatus Bay. The project prioritizes efficient circulation between the living areas, mainly on the second floor, and the firefighter support areas on the first floor. With two sets of stair cases at both ends, firefighters are able to ascend to the living quarters easily, either directly to the dormitories or the family room + kitchen.
