Girl Scouts of Montana and Wyoming (GSMW) serves 10,000 girls in Billings and in communities throughout Montana and Wyoming. The Girl Scout mission is to build girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place. They pursue this mission through hands-on STEM learning, entrepreneurship, and outdoor programs by empowering every Girl Scout with important life skills.
To grow this mission locally, the GSMW headquarters in Billings, MT needed to grow too. Their existing office space and parking facilities could not adequately support a new STEM van, used to transport the troops to their skill-building activities and to support the ever-critical, annual cookie distribution.
The Girl Scouts acquired an adjacent property and demolished the existing single-family home to make room for their expanding facilities. At this point, GSMW reached out to Cushing Terrell for help with planning, storm drain overlay, and design of a new parking lot and garage.
The design team was able to fully execute on the organization’s needs while maintaining visual alignment with the existing office on-site and acknowledging the high street level visibility of the new structure.
More than 10,000 Girl Scouts and countless community members and area residents will benefit from improved facilities.
