I specialize in the translation and realization of ideas into imagery from direction as loose as bubbles on trace, or a stack of tears from magazines or journals to developed or developing sets of drawings, working in parallel and as close to real-time as possible. I am an expert at generating straightforward but beautiful 2d rendered drawing sets, as well as incredibly complex and technically challenging match-moved and camera-tracked productions combining live video and 3d animations. My focus is always on process, sometimes developing bespoke solutions if scope, budget and timeline allows such decadence.
I'm a systems thinker. I love drawing and construction, making things with my hands. Working in multiple design/build shops solidified my passion for carpentry, welding and working with concrete, making scale models from paper, masonite, wood, cork, plexi, rubber, metal wire, in addition to some very unconventional materials.
I have a great deal of experience designing and preparing 3d surface- and 3d solid-models for output on all types of 3d printers and other types of CAD/CAM equipment (laser cutters, CNC milling machines, etc.), from low-end desktop machines to full-color industrial powder printing machines, having operated all of these myself over the last several years. I have a good deal of experience with 3d scanning as well, and which types of technologies lend themselves to a given application and end result.
I am excited by selling and pitching the vision, whether it's to the client, a key decision-maker or check writer, or to an approval board that brings its own unique and sometimes unconscious set of agendas and biases. I'm a self-starter and am perfectly content to be left to my own devices to direct and decide the entire course of a project. I'm a natural leader. But I also thrive in team environments filling in the necessary gaps as needed and letting others direct and/or decide how and where my skills can be most useful working towards whatever the end objective is.
