The proposal is located in Balneário Camboriú (SC), a city with a strong tourist focus, and aims to enhance the natural landscape formed by the topography and hydrology of the Barra neighborhood in Barra Sul, as well as to integrate the population with these increasingly scarce elements. By valuing the urban space, it is understood that not only is the landscape preserved and appreciated, but also the history of this neighborhood within the city.
An initial diagnostic analysis reveals a privileged surrounding area, encompassing several historically and culturally significant points for the city, which will be preserved by the proposal. There is a clear need to preserve the edge of the Rio Camboriú, introducing public uses that foster a sense of belonging to the space.
Inspired by the fauna of Brazil's biomes, the proposal takes the form of a large tree that seeks to reconnect with the city, tourism, history, and urban environment. Its "roots and branches" permeate the Barra neighborhood (the beginning and origin of the municipality) and extend to the Nova Esperança neighborhood and a section of Central Beach. These roots spread out in search of new nutrients, spaces, and uses, encompassing the proposed activities, connecting them, and creating a cohesive whole.
Thus, three major axes are conceived: the ecological axis, the historical axis, and the cultural axis, primarily connected by Avenida Emanoel Rebelo, which serves as the main flow axis of the neighborhood (people, vehicles), as well as a large trunk of a tree directing nutrients to the canopy to produce new fruits and unify the entire proposal. Its concept prioritizes the urban space as a large vegetated breath amid a city suffocated by high buildings.
The project encompasses three types of parks: the ecological park, with strategies for the recovery and protection of native vegetation; the cultural park, focused on local culture and history; and the urban park, addressing the various uses and appropriations planned for the park.
Status: School Project
Location: Balneário de Camboriú, BR
My Role: Student
Additional Credits: Work developed for the Landscape Architecture II subject at the University of Vale do Itajaí. The project began as a group effort, where I worked alongside Julia Azambuja and Nicolle Manenti on the initial stages of site diagnosis and preliminary design. In the final stages, the project transitioned to individual work, with each of us choosing to detail a section of our preference.
