The sociopolitical training center for women Antonieta de Barros, is an urban architectural project that, through concepts of feminist urbanism and gender architecture, aims to promote representation in political and public positions.
It is aligned with 3 of the 17 SDGs, it seeks to meet some of the goals of SDGs 5, 10 and 11, in order to promote gender equality and reduce inequalities so that, through representativeness,
it makes sustainable cities and communities possible. To inspire actions and changes at a regional level, a model equipment is created in Florianópolis - SC.
The architecture and its formal composition are thought together with the surroundings, the public space and concepts of architecture and gender. It totals 8,766 m2 divided into 5 sectors:
Educational, composed of classrooms with different configurations to meet the pluralities of knowledge; the Economic with workshops, laboratories and coworking, helping the financial emancipation and independence of women; the Administrative and support, for the functionality of the equipment, it also has support rooms, dealing with legal, psychological and social issues; and Leisure and Culture, providing the achievement of culture and leisure inwomen's daily lives.
In this way, by uniting public space and architecture, there is a social space capable of empowering women and encouraging them to participate in political and social spaces, thus enabling the formation of a fair urban space accessible to all.
