APPRECIATION: A LUXURY BOUTIQUE WITH PERSONAL STYLING SERVICES

There appears to be no end to China’s growing economy and, consequently, to Chinese luxury consumption.  The Chinese demand for luxury goods and the Chinese consumers' purchasing power are unstoppable. However, the import tariff hinders luxury consumption within the country. This research examined consumers' luxury consumption behaviors and the growing luxury market to explore the validity of opening a luxury boutique with personal styling services in Northeast China, specifically in the city of Shenyang. Utilizing the open-ended interview and close-ended questionnaire, the research has revealed that opening a luxury boutique with personalized services in Northeast China will maintain and upgrade the domestic trade, will help customers meet personalized needs, will positively contribute to the growing luxury market, and will bring attention to import tariffs.

Therefore, a luxury boutique with personal styling consultation may solve these problems and reduce the outflow of internal funds. This type of luxury boutique may  reduce mindless luxury and conspicuous consumption, minimize the immature consumer’s psychological behaviors, decrease non-rational purchasing behavior, and advocate reasonable luxury consumption. As clients get professional personal styling consultation from the boutique on luxury consumption, they will be more likely to recognize the cultural connotation of luxury products; their purchasing behavior will not be to blindly follow the trends, but to make more mature and rational judgments and choices. A luxury boutique offering styling services in Northeast China is sustainable due to its positive effect on Shenyang's economic development and tourism improvement.
