A 20,000-square-foot, $1.4-million renovation of the existing Brunswick County Training School to become a continuing education facility for Brunswick Community College. Up-fitted spaces include general classrooms, art studios, an office, lounge, and future expansion space for classrooms and a community center. Complete replacement of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, new insulation for walls and roof, new roofing, and new insulated glazing throughout. Added design features such as skylights, covered entry porch and brick patterning were incorporated to visually bring energy and life back to the building, which has cultural significance as a segregation-era African-American school.
