In the Post-Industrial Landscape of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Industrial Structures and Infrastructure no long serve as the city’s economic engine in which to sustain itself. Many of them are abandoned or underutilized and are left to decay or to be forgotten in forsaken former Industrial Zones. While they can no longer serve their original industrial purpose, they can be torn down, recycled and/or reclaimed for newer construction. Instead of the destruction of salvaged structural components into another state, such as melting down steel or shredding wood, why not reuse the structural components to create a new architecture? Contemporary construction and manufacturing methods can extend a component’s end state in order to keep the same intension of the material or structural to serve a renewed architectonic purpose.
