Sequoia High School is a historic campus listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It needed a spectacular new gymnasium which could seat all of its 1,400 students. The school district required that the new building meet the highest standards for energy consumption and sustainability.
CAW created a flexible facility that can now be used by the entire student body, and whose contemporary architectural language complemented the historic campus. It also exceeded the school district’s LEED goals, achieving LEED-Platinum certification by integrating multiple state-of-the-art sustainable design features. Orientation and placement of the building also provided the added benefits of organizing the parking and drop-off areas, and creating dynamic new campus and stadium entrances.
