Hoover Traitel Building - Stanford University

The new Hoover Traitel Building is be located at a prime site on Stanford campus bordered by the Main Quad on the west, Green Library on the south, Hoover Tower to the east and the Art Gallery Building to the north. The building is designed to respect its neighbors in scale and articulation and from the north edge of the Green Library forecourt. The building houses The Hoover Institution’s new Conference center with a 400-seat auditorium, a dining/multipurpose room for 440 and a pre-function pavilion that will greet visitors and event attendees. The pavilion and the main building also form the edges of a private courtyard that is designed to serve as the outdoor venue for conference events and also a quiet place for small events or a private conversation.

The second floor houses the offices for the administrators of the Institution on a 18,000 SF floor plate. CAW and WRA started on the project from initial programming and space planning to right size the private offices, create zones of naturally lit open office areas and incorporate a mix of various sized conference rooms, phone rooms, break-room and other support spaces.

The next phase of this project, currently underway, includes a renovation of The Hoover Institution’s three existing buildings. The existing buildings includes five floors of offices over two buildings totaling 60,000SF of offices. The renovation will be a complete remodel of the nearly 40 and 50 year old buildings to modernize the buildings, provide contemporary office spaces with ample support and collaborative spaces for the Hoover Fellows and Staff and research assistants. Venues for some event spaces with catering support will be incorporated on the main floors of the office buildings.
