This building is located at the end of a dead-end alley in Sohanak, a region in the north east of Tehran. The land area is 6000 sqm. The north- west side of the land has chosen to build the building due to its higher elevation that makes it dominant to the whole site. Besides, there were no trees in this section. The project belongs to an extended family including grandparents, parents (main client), children, and the client’s brother who is living with grandparents.

The programs consist of 2 residential units and “Hoseiniye” (a social religious place for Shia Muslims) built in 3 floors. Ground floor is composed of Hoseiniye, Lobby, Mechanical room and storages. The first floor dedicated to the bigger unit belongs to the client and his family (6 members) and the second floor is going to be the grandparents unit.A continuous line makes a continuous surface to embrace all of the separate unites and have them in one unit space for whole extended family to live in it.

Since each of these units have their own guests and strangers do not allowed to have a direct view to living spaces due to religious rules especially the garden which is belongs to the first floor, whole volume is designed in the form of boxes perpendicular to each other. This arrangement provides a vast view to the whole city for upper unit. The first floor has a wide view to the garden and Hoseiniye has view to its own courtyard.

A row of pine trees separates the building from the garden beside. These trees are on a south-to-north line parallel to the east side, covering parts of the main elevation and blending in its texture. A long coming and going ramp in this side of the building makes an easy and funny access to the garden for children. In fact, this ramp is the very continuous surface that connects living spaces to the garden. All of the materials used in the building such as Wood, Straw, Cement, Stone are natural and sustainable.
