Overlooking North Michigan Avenue, 550 St. Clair is a twenty-six-story residential tower enclosed by window planes on the north, east, and south elevations. It is relieved at the corners by inset balconies delineated with translucent glazing. The floor-to-ceiling windows incorporate zero sight-line operable units set above the viewer's eye. Bi-parting sliding doors open onto the continuous projected terraces on the west, creating six-foot openings. The forms, systems, and materials were selected to provide openness and privacy, flexibility of use, and functionality.
