Hello world. Unlike the rest of the school bloggers, my viewpoint will be somewhat different, in that I am not yet in school. I completed an undergrad degree in Art History a while ago, worked for a bit at dot-coms and freelanced in NYC, and have now made the unfortunate decision to apply to grad school for architecture. I'm quite psyched about the whole thing, actually. After using the school blog project extensively in my school search, I proposed to the archinect folks that I blog my experiences as a prospective student- and here I am. I had the opportunity recently to check out the Koolhaas student center at IIT in Chicago, IL and just got back from the DAAP SAID open house at Univ of Cincinnati, so I'll post some thoughts and photos from those in the coming days. I'll also be hitting the East Coast circuit in about two weeks (yikes).

Hey there... sounds a lot like what I did in my search for a grad school. Checked out IIT and U Cincy, among other things. Keep us posted, looking forward to reliving the dream. Also, check out Knowlton, you can read about it on my blog.
Wow. That was like the fastest comment response ever. Excellent. Reliving the dream, indeed. I'm hoping that this exercise might aid me in differentiating between places and programs better than I might be able to myself. We'll see... Don't know much about Knowlton, but will definitely check it out- thanks.
good luck with your search.
Incidentally, I looked at and applied to Harvard, Yale, MIT, Penn, and UCincy before I ever heard of Knowlton. They have a great faculty and tremendous resources. Winy Maas from mvrdv is here this year, each year we have a starchitect for the 6th year graduate students. Great lecture series, great new building, etc. I applied late (after acceptances had been sent out) and they still gave me a graduate assistantship and extra scholarship money. I have no doubt that I am getting an Ivy league education for pennies on the dollar...
Be interested to see how Winy Maas is teaching.

geimanj, Hey thanks for the great feed back on the school visits!! I am also seeking grad schools now, but haveing a hard time being able to visit schools...ya know money...
cjacobs- I hear ya. I'm lucky to be in NYC, which makes seeing the East Coast schools a relatively quick bus or train ride due to its central location. Also helps to have friends to crash with, avoiding hotel expenses. Still, I haven't been able to do any work this past week, so there's also the lost income. I hope my perspective helps you out in some way, but if there's any one particular school you're especially interested in, I would highly recommend visiting at some point to make sure it's really what you want. Good luck!
