as a mater of fact i think both..as the school i'm in will provide me with free&ready to use "lab mice" to study (this includes me)..
But as a matter of fact I'm also generaly curious of knowing if this sleep depravation is a common thing to students from other universities in the world and also if it is somewhat benefic or even responsable for those "midnight madness" creativity crisis the night before the project's deadline ?
YES it is a common thing to students from other Universities. I've graduated from the School of Architecture in Athens, Greece. God, the first years I cursed my decision. During the mid-years I had already got used to it. During my diploma project I kinda had started to like it. The reason for that is quite complicated I think. It has to do with the nature of out job in general I think.
And as long as those "midnight madness" creativity crisis are concerned... I've experienced them many many times... Even without a project's deadline. Most of my colleagues prefer working at night... That's when ghosts and ideas seem to make their appearance... ;)
Once I had met a guy (student of architecture) from Madrid that admitted taking pills to be able to work overnight 3 nights in a roll.
Man, is this insanity or what?
Some bad habits, I think....The muses should be sent to be sometimes too! What so ever, we all suffer this and no one seems to be interested on changing it. Now I'm studying geographic engineering and there's a similar symptom.
I'll tell you what :you show me one student in architecture who gets enough sleep and...well there is no 'and' because you will never find him/her.Haven't we all experienced it the night's when your body is so exhausted that it seems to have a mind of it's own and the possibility to sleep never occures...well I know i have and there were many of them..in fact I think that since e entered The UniversityOf Architecture in TImisoara,ROmainia I spent my life more awake than asleep...it sound good doesn't it(is that strange)
well i remember my first night without sleep..in fact i think i will always remember it..kind of like my first time:P ..kiding..it must be the late hour speakink..so why am i still up so late writing to you..because i can ..i must not..but i can...so i do it..
it's crazy when you come to think about it...a learned after 21 years to appreciate a good sleep(and i won't say good night slepp..because a good slep can be at any hour when u are an architect)..well sweet dreams...
