  • The Final Crit... 3 weeks to go

    By bcu
    May 13, '09 4:51 AM EST

So yesterday was our final crit of the year, of the course, of part 2, of our student lives... Here's my presentation, reactions were good although i need to rework the layout mainly for the final pin up as I won't be able to stand up and talk it through, it needs to speak for itself a bit more.

A timeline of the Choleric people's development over 80 plus years

So then i go on to describe the new hive condition after they have moved out of the building hive, which had become overcrowded and conditions were less than ideal, medical facilities were poor, deaths from non tribal operations were high so a new leader promised a better way of life and this new hive was constructed

These better living conditions as time goes on produces higher population numbers and soon this hive is also becoming full... expansion is needed so they begin construction on a new hive, using the sludge construction plant (above) to create the new hive linked to the original.

This expansion continues over a longer period, spreading out over the Choleric sector, taking over other tribes and reproducing the original hive improving the design each time until the first hive nodes become obsolete and start to be abandoned and then de-constructed for recycling and reuse in the new outer hives.

The thesis was about separating the human race into the four humours, Choleric, Sanguine, Phlegmatic and Melancholic. The action of using the Choleric people as a test case to see whether this is really better than what we have today, a society separated by race, social standing and commodity. This has in my mind revealed that forcibly separating these people by their character traits rather than superficial points, really doesn't change that much, we still have people who take control and will do anything to stay there, although the Choleric sector appears to go back to the feudal system of medieval times, we still consume the land we are in then abandon it when its used up, we act like parasites consuming the host then moving on, much like how we operate now, consuming and filling land and commodities then casting it aside when it no longer suits us or the fashion changes.

So i think having designed it by trying to be detached from reality and putting myself in the shoes of the Choleric tribe I have still put the mark of current humanity and our history on it, but wouldn't the Choleric people use their knowledge of our history aswell? It would take a number of generations in the divided system for the true nature of the humours to come through...

So yes, another 3 weeks of work then thats it... i'd be glad to hear any thoughts people might have on this....
