long beach museum of air and space

seductive technologies and the culture of collecting

so i'm bored (and avoiding working on my thesis), and i thought i'd post some images of my studio project from last quarter. my studio project from last quarter is the design of a museum of air and space in long beach. the site is pretty prominent, adjacent to the queen mary. the main concept for the museum is that it will have a "split personality." one "personality" will involve celebrating the technology that makes flight and space travel possible. the other "personality" will involve taking an ethical stand, and provoking people to think about these aircraft as basically weapons of destruction.

me doin' my thing, presenting to the jury

overall, it was a great review. the jury liked my project and they did point out things that needed to be better resolved (structure, circulation) but they understood that it was more of a charette project.
