Project 2, in extension of the tectonic shaping narrative identified during Project_1, occurs further west on M.B. Blvd and within the influence of the M.B. Pier.

Conceptually a single-story shop front, bound on three sides in the commercial zone by neighboring buildings and a height plane, Project_2 sought to convey strain on its face in a ‘crinkling’ gesture the way a continuous sheet of metal foil might when compressed from below.

A ‘refusal height’ or that point where densely packed material begins resisting compression forces, limits (not stops) the upward crinkling movement. An entry portal is projected onto this surface and sliced clean through – it’s final head height determinable only when the sheet comes to rest.
