Inspiration for the Myers Park Harris Teeter developed from surrounding Neoclassical Italianate homes first built in the 1920’s. Historic details and materials were redesigned with a playful modern touch, also utilizing glazed terra cotta roofs from the same company who supplied the area originally. An emphasis on maintaining a strong street presence guided the design. The octagonal tower functions as a classical jewel, terminating the significant Providence and Queens intersection vistas.
