Conversion of four-storey Victorian former warehouse in Shoreditch Conservation Area into a new gallery, library and offices. Phased works carried out to tight programme and budget constraints.

Full width double-height gallery created to maximise impact from street and bring natural light deep into the building, providing a large flexible exhibition space which can accommodate single or multiple shows.

New aluminium and timber bridge spans void at entrance and leads to grand stair to lower floor. Vertical circulation re-configured to make more efficient use of upper levels. Building refurbishment throughout and offices, library and meeting spaces fitted out.

Our remit as architects and project managers included assisting with fundraising and “sponsorship-in-kind” from manufacturers. Design flexibility and robust contract management was required throughout.
