Laufs Engineering Design, Long Island City, NY, US, Junior Technical Architect for Facades and Fabrication
The official description was to learn, draft, and develop facade designs and details. Generally, I supported senior staff with problem-solving, drafting, modeling, and design assistance on a variety of projects. In addition to the drafting, work also included producing schematic drawings used in presentations, checking others’ work, converting and preparing files from clients for use by the engineers, contacting product representatives for details and specifications, speaking with clients and other contractors in coordination meetings. I also prepared and reworked all of the company portfolios.
Pratt Interdisciplinary Technology Lab, Brooklyn, NY, US, Research Assistant
As a student worker, I was put on a number of different projects ranging from building and repairing 3D printers, to designing a large format 3D printer, retrofitting parts on a CNC machine and a clay deltabot printer, as well as coordinating tasks for junior researchers. Tasks often included designing and 3D printing parts for these machines in Rhinoceros.
James Fahy Design, Rochester, NY, US, Summer Intern
I was hired as a summer intern to assist with the creation of models and rendering. My work used Sketchup, Rhinoceros 5, and 3DS Max. I implemented a parametric workflow in Grasshopper to make the modeling process more efficient. I used Photoshop to further develop the renderings. In addition, I created artistic floor plans using AutoCAD.
