The Santo Antonio dam project has displaced over 3,000 people. It is one of a pattern of about 30 mega-dams in brazil. 

I was lucky enough to spend three months in this region of brazil in 2013, just as the Sant Antonio Dam was nearly complete. During this time, I traveled the Maderia River and stayed with a village of fishermen downstream of the dam.
