He holds a Bachelor's degree in architecture from Washington University in St. Louis and also has academic background in the fine arts and art/architectural history.

Executed schematic design and design development tasks for Transit-Oriented Development Studies in St. Louis, Missouri. Responsibilities included: on-site surveying and analysis; production of orthographic drawings, perspectival renderings, and data visualization; and laying out and editing published reports.
