Link Union Station (Link US)

To propel forward the evolution of LA’s commuter, freight, and lightrail systems, the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LA Metro) is transforming LA Union Station (LAUS) from a termination point into a run-through station.

As simple as it sounds, transforming LA Union Station is no small feat, the effects of which will reverberate throughout the state. An increase in the station’s efficiency, volume, and capacity, and an increase in overall Metro ridership thanks to greater throughput, will dramatically improve the flow of virtually all modes of transportation, alleviate traffic congestion throughout Southern California, and help meet future demands for transportation—LA Metro estimates that, by 2040, the Union Station will service twice as many passengers.

Key components of Link US include

  • The addition of run-through tracks crossing over the US-101 freeway and connecting to mainline tracks, to provide one-seat rides to various major Southern California destinations
  • A complete reconfiguration of the station’s arrival and boarding area (the “rail yard”) and entry tracks (the “throat”)
  • A brand-new expanded passenger concourse featuring a new waiting area, a central retail and food services area, and additional passenger amenities
  • Accommodations for future transportation options, including the West Santa Ana Branch Light Rail Transit Corridor project and California High-Speed Rail (HSR).

In proud support of building and improving our community, a team from Amheart Solutions is working in conjunction with LA Metro’s lead A&E team, to provide preliminary engineering and architecture plans, specifications for bridges, track, platforms, and design support for the new concourse.
