The Comprehensive Studio:

The studio project initially entitled “The Ware-House”. The supply of the affordable housing which is to be ‘mass-Produced’ and at least initially, occupied by the local population. Essentially, the project was a factory to build Modular Homes.

 The Site:

The selected site for the ware house was consist of a conglomeration of sites in the North Clinton/Coal section of Trenton, New Jersey. Through area research we have come to find that there are many vacant lots and houses around the Coal port area in Trenton, NJ. Prefab Trenton is a project that aims to help the local community and future city residents to obtain a fully completed residences at a lower cost than traditional house building. Prefab. Trenton will be a modular housing manufacturer located near the Assunpink Creek along Taylor Street, this will allow for the new facility to have a better reach within Trenton and the coal port community. One of the major goals of the project is to fill in the gaps in the broken city fabric by offering housing at a lower cost, that would be beneficial to local residents. The factory will also work as an activator for the area that has been abandoned through the years.

The Concept:

The main aim was to engage the whole site with the public activities. There will be an open showroom for guest to feel and experience our modular houses. All materials will be stored in the facility. These few programmatic elements are some from an extensive list of needs for Project Prefab Trenton. The facility will include a two-story factory that will be where the modular houses are assembled as well as shipped to its destination. The proposed design has four pavilions, where the activities like public library, Auditorium, Daycare center, Restaurants, the office buildings, the Exhibition center, the main manufacturing assembly, Microcosm and the public plaza that let the Circulation of people throughout the site. The site is axially connected with the coal port. The buildings are oriented in a way where we can get maximum amount if Natural light in the buildings. The exterior of the buildings are covered with the polycarbonate panels and the cavity brick walls on the surface where needed.
