An academic team project that addresses the contaminated SuperFund land abandoned by the US Steel production facility in Duluth, MN. Our project proposes a series of phases to remediate the soil using plants that, in turn, can be harvested to produce energy in a new biomass energy production facility. The building engages an existing industrial relic (coal storage wall) and is formally based on the rhythm of the wall. Our project was featured in the local news following a community meeting: http://www.northlandsnewscenter.com/news/local/Design-Duluth-Studio-students-showcase-final-projects-for-St-Louis-River-cooridor-285430901.html
