MIXED USE ECO TOWERS

2012 Mixed Use Eco Towers. San Diego, CA: this project consists of a mixed-use, high-rise, high-density development, which sought to be environmentally friendly by recycling its water with a hybrid wetland living machine and reducing its carbon footprint by generating some of its energy with photovoltaic skin. The development consists of  two 500 ft , 40-storey residential and office towers connected by a retail area at the base. The sun-dial plaza is framed by the living machine and punctuated by fountains. The towers have a diagrid steel structure with reinforced concrete cores, and a double skin envelope for passive heating and cooling. Vegetated balconies and sky-gardens provide green space.
