China, having undergone the most rapid urbanization in history in the past 40 years, is starting to face the consequent issues, particularly urban housing and greenhouse gas emission. The thesis, manifesting as an large scale architecture and urban design project transforming an existing “urban village” in the city, proposes the implementation of industrialized timber architecture as part of the solution to the societal and environmental impact of urbanization.
