Our OAS1S prototype was modified for the sloping site by creating a split level configuration in the rear with a walk out level. This modification allowed for more interior space in the form of a family room and guest suite. To avoid the water table we elevated the front portion of the house and used a suspended slab over void system with concrete piers.
The primary innovating driver for this residence is the extension of the living space into an outdoor room that connects all of the public living spaces. A bar of service spaces frames the outdoor room while segregating the private areas from the public areas on the one level residence.
