My name is Sam Kraus, I am an Art Director, Visual Designer and Entrepreneur from San Francisco currently living in Luxembourg with my wife. 

I have spent the last 10 years developing my skills as a creative professional: searching for the intersection of purpose and design. I believe I have found what I’ve been looking for within the profession of Architecture and Spatial Design.

I grew up in northern California immersed in nature, creative expression and a loving community. I attribute many of my morals and values to this time. I am my most authentic self when I am surrounded by people I love creating meaningful experiences.  As a designer I am constantly analyzing the world around me in pursuit of improvement.

My love for the built environment stems from my upbringing. My father was a general contractor and I spent my summers painting fences, remodeling houses and landscaping yards. I learned the fundamentals of building and construction from my father, but I’ve always had an innate curiosity for design, textures and the physical environment. For several years I put these skills to use as a product and clothing designer in San Francisco, all the while stifling the overwhelming urge to participate in Architecture.

My education path was informal and atypical. My university studies began in 2007 at the University of California, Santa Cruz, where I quickly realized that I was ambitious. Unfortunately my ambition was not for school, but rather for building meaningful relationships and asking questions. I started my first business in 2009 and over the next seven years, learned more than I ever could have imagined. My determination, grit, and overall curiosity have led to a successful career ever since.

I am currently working on designing a line of prefabricated, Passive home products between 1,500 and 3,500 sq. ft. marketed towards middle income families. These homes will be designed and built off site and shipped around the country for quick installation.

My professional goal is to one day design natural environments that foster creativity, community, and personal expression.
