Silver Building

The Silver Building is an imposing concrete structure between the Royal Docks and Silvertown that provides London’s latest meanwhile space for creative enterprises, start-ups and local businesses.

Originally built in 1965 for British Oil and Cake Mills, the site was left derelict for over 20 years and has now been transformed to become a dramatic, short-term workspace for everyone from set and fashion designers to music producers. Our interventions include the creation of a new entrance with void to the reception and bar, a variety of studios suitable for one to 20 people, a large picture frame window inserted at mezzanine level with views into the maker-space below and future flexibility for potential roof terraces and photography studios.

Leading social entrepreneur Nick Hartwright is behind the scheme and the grand unveiling was during Spring 2018.
