Located on the fringe of town (Aspen) in a rare, secluded clearing, the latest addition to the Roaring Fork Valley was an exercise in restraint on our part.  The clients, a young artistic couple who emphasis minimalism, wanted a quite retreat for their family without something that screamed for attention.  Borrowing elements from the victorian history of Aspen and their love for a minimal/modern palette, the result is something both unique and subdued.  One of the components houses the artist's living quarters, while the second is occupied by their studio and guest rooms.  These two elements overlap each other on a raised plinth which also contains the lap pool (a must for these once collegiate swimmers).
