Community Church "La Cripta"

“All architecture is shelter, all great architecture is the design of space that contains, cuddles, exalts, or stimulates the persons in that space”

In this atypically triangular site, a circle is circumscribed, containing three layers that express the Trinitarian dimension of faith, origin and end of everything that exists and what the Church is called to be.

Being semicircular, enveloping and contained, one within the other, it represents the notion of communion in religious life in which people, being diverse, in turn are in total communion.

At the same time, an in crescendo is visible from the outside, from the first layer to the third, to make the highest point on the bell tower, which will be inserted into the urban scale as a landmark of the city.

La Cripta was a project I worked on 2019 with two colleagues from Opaco Studio, and two other freelance architects, after working hours. We were lucky to get the direct commission from the Priest, who needed the design and development of construction files to present to the Vatican and, if approved, to be able to get the financial support port and donations.
