DESIGNING A METRO STATION FOR THE PRESENT WITH AN AWARENESS OF THE PAST FOR A FUTURE WHICH IS UNKNOWN.
METRO STATION - DHAULA KUAN
Dhaula kuan, near Delhi cantonment areais an important metro station on the Delhi Airportmetro express line connecting west to south Delhi. Dhaula kuan is the area surrounding a major intersection of roads and is a primary stop on the Delhi ring Railway. It serves as a major Exchange point for Multimodal travellers which inturn reduces the dependence on private automobileand reduces the amount of pollution. A Metro station will add a rapid transit system here and its prime location on the Airport express line will also enable ease in regional and inter-regional transport. Proposed elevated ring road connecting Dwarka to Dhaula Kaun. Placement of Shells Enables natural diffused Daylight and cuts off the Harsh
southern light. Bio-Skin intergrated into the facade of the stucture cools the winds which inturn reduces the temperature thereby reducing the load on the HVAC system. Thus insted of being a catalyst of the heat islandeffect, the station operates as an “URBAN COOL SPOT”
