Grange Hall

Grange Hall was a bar/restaurant located in Oakland's Temescal District. Our concept was to create a communal gathering place for the neighborhood, in an area that at the time, had few locations for residents to hang out. Our budget was used largely on new fixtures and appliances for the bar and kitchen, so we had to be creative with what we had left. We used scrap wood leftover from other projects to build the bar, we got some affordable knotty pine siding to clad the walls, and took some sandpaper and hammers to make the existing furniture look "rustic."

I worked as a designer and project coordinator on this project from conception to completion. The company I worked for was a design/build, and as such, we were responsible for every level of the project's creation, including the sourcing and delivering of the materials and appliances, drafting the construction documents, securing the permits, and designing the details on-site along the way.

My roles included:

• Conceptual Design

• Branding

• Material Procurement

• Permitting

• Orchestrating Building Inspections

• Construction Management

• Drafting Construction Documents and Shop Drawings (AutoCAD)

• Rendering (Photoshop and Illustrator)
