The proposed office campus, totaling about 3.79 million square feet, is projected to create $18.2 billion in direct impact from future tenants with an estimated $6.7 billion in payroll earnings, said San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo and city councilmember Raul Peralez, who represents downtown residents, in a June 5 memo to the City Council.
The amount of office space and retail space that San Francisco-based Jay Paul is aiming to build — about 3.64 million square feet and 24,000 square feet, respectively — are expected to be approved as currently proposed.
One aspect of the project that could change before the council votes on it is its parking supply. Its current plans call for five levels of underground parking offering 6,230 parking spaces and a 15-space surface parking lot.
