I am currently a technical designer at Gensler San Francisco working remotely and living in Washington DC. I have 5 years of experience in architecture.  During my time in Gensler, I have been exposed to many project types. Very closely collaborated with clients to accommodate their design vision and their technical concerns. Worked for 3 years with client Jay Paul on the City View project from Pre-Concept, Concept Design, Schematic Design, Design Development to Construction Documents. Also worked on Burlingame Point (facebook) executing Construction Administration and Conform Set.

Won numerous urban design competitions with complex programm, organic forms, site planning, phasing and had the opportunity to push forward future/parametric design ideas and construction methods in mixed-use, office, a tech campus, lab science, and residential work. I am proficient in Rhino, Revit, Grasshopper 3D, Dynamo, Vray, and other rendering software as well as significant experience with fabrication through laser cutting (CNC), 3d printing, and scripting with a Kuka 6 axis robot to develop form.

At the University of Virginia, I taught the Grasshopper 3D, Revit and Dynamo lecture as a Digital Fellow. In my final year of school, I was awarded the Henry Adams Medal for Excellence by the American Institute of Architects.

Your focus on innovation, design excellence, and team collaboration in combination

with your expertise on material choice is the perfect environment I'm looking for. I believe I

would be a great addition to your team.

With my experience, passion, and enthusiasm for design, and computation I am confident that I have the skills and mindset needed to excel at your company. It would be an absolute privilege to join your team. Thank you for your consideration, and I hope to hear from you soon.

EXPERIENCE

Gensler, San Francisco — Technical Designer

May 2018 - PRESENT

  • Worked on City View Project from winning the competition to breaking the ground. Phases: Pre-Design, SD, DD, CD. Collaboratively worked with client, presenting design solutions and helping make design decisions. Closely worked with landscape architects (Field Operations), MKA structural engineers and PAE mechanical consultants. Developed detailed 3D drawings for complex parts of the project: bridge details, truss structure, natural and mechanical ventilation, bird safety glass, using ladybug plugin developed sustainable facade design to meet LEED gold points.

  • Participated in many competitions for Silicon Valley, worked on science lab typology, campus, tech offices, headquarters and other urban project designs.

  • Lead and won the design competition for a hospitality project in Mexico. This high-end hospitality hotel + residential building proposed an organic facade and fluid undulating form massing solving design challenges of complex ground and security conditions. Competing with SOM Zahar Hadid we won the project.

Michael Maltzan Architects, Los Angeles — Designer Intern

December 2017 - January 2018

  • Collaboratively worked with a team on an affordable housing project located in LA. Was actively involved in project development coming up with design solutions that met the project’s needs: limited budget and tight schedule. Project ambition and sustainable design goal achieved with high quality construction using prefabricated modules.

Drips + Phinney Studio, Charlottesville VA — Designer Intern

May 2017 - September 2017

  • With algorithm design solutions with Grasshopper 3D as media developed a concept for schematic design, space programming, site planning, environmental studies. Generated data-driven geometry and algorithm to develop a full set of drawings: elevation, sections, plans, and 3D renders. Using the Ladybug Grasshopper component achieved sustainable solutions and many iterations of computational design options.

DCS, McLean VA — Junior Designer

May 2013 - August 2016 (part time)

  • Worked on a hospitality project hotel and residential project with 300 units from start to finish. Prepared Design Development to Construction Documents. Coordinated construction documents with structural, mechanical, electrical engineers and lighting consultants. Applied sustainable design principal pursuing LEED certification.

Architectural Design Studio, Mc Lean VA — Designer Intern

May 2012 - May 2013

  • Small residential projects in Washington DC and the metro area. Worked directly with clients, performed site plans surveys, worked on Sketcheup and Auto CAD. Executed a schematic design, design development details and construction document details.
