WORKPLACE DESIGN | OFFICES FOR ARCHITECTS

The objective behind this project was to produce a dynamic work environment that reflected the unique creative work-flow of an architectural office. Located on the corner of Allen St and Franklin St, at the urban edge of downtown Buffalo, the site became central in the decisions of internal programmatic organization. Surrounded by low-rise hard scape and an advantages corner, the project began to grow and move in a way that opened up the work spaces to wonderful views of the city, the street, and the existing trees on the site. The trees and neighboring buildings helped derive the orientation and alignment to the street. The trees delineated main internal circulation in the building as well as the positioning of office spaces in order to allow the interaction and views of the occupants and the existing trees. The project was divided into two major programmatic categories:

1. The solid open-plan cores for group work.

2. The dynamic small protrusions for individual or small-scale private work.

This created a clear organization of space without creating a hard-line boundary, but instead an inclusive and communal environment to compliment an efficient work-flow.
