This beautiful space was given a dramatic overhaul from it's original dark and dismal appearance - now a wonderful blend of new and old. The design of the 6,000 square-foot, 150-seat restaurant and brewery provides patrons with a sense of casual Southern elegance with white panes of weathers oak and whitewashed shutters. The restaurant is split in to two areas - a brewery that houses the main bar and the one-of-a-kind dining that will act as the centerpiece of the establishment.
My work on this project included the art package, exterior furniture selections and other punch items throughout construction during 2012. In 2013, the owners decided to add a row of booths in the bar area which I assisted in designing.
"Cask & Larder pays tribute to this legacy by creating a congenial neighborhood gathering spot where our made-on-site beers flow freely (hence, the cask) and the pantry is always full. Long ago, the term “larder” applied to a storing area for meats and fish, typically the coolest room in a house. Modern refrigeration has since come along, but we honor the traditions of whole cookery by curing our own meats, canning our own preserved fruits and pickled vegetables, seeking out the best local fish and shellfish, and doing everything we can to make sure Cask & Larder is the coolest room in these parts." - Cask & Larder's Concept
