About 

James Carse, is a co-founder of ALAO and a principal of the firm with extensive experience leading award-winning projects in the US and internationally.  James is a licensed architect in NY, NJ, FL, and LA; a certified urban planner; and an accredited LEED Professional.  James has served as an advisor the American Planning Association’s International Outreach Program on issues ranging from cultural preservation planning to new town development.  He has collaborated with entities including NASA, the Dept of Environmental Protection, NYC Economic Development Corporation, the Greater New Orleans Foundation, the NY Public Library, and Art Built - among others - to re-imagine the way we live, work, create, and develop anti-fragility through design.

James holds a Master of Architecture in Urban Design with Distinction from Harvard’s Graduate School of Design and a Bachelor of Architecture from Tulane University.  He has taught studios and seminars in Urban Design, Architecture, and Interior Design at Catholic University of America, Columbia University, Cornell University, Parsons - The New School, and Tulane University.  He is a frequent collaborator with the Cooper Hewitt’s education programs - where he focuses on developing techniques and programs for skill development, ideation, and rapid prototyping.  James’ writing and work has been published by a number of publishers and publications including Architect Magazine, Oculus Magazine, Harvard, and Nicolodi press.
