Third Year Project

Mixed use housing for 4 different generations of inhabitants resulted in a unique form. Each age group, children, young adults, adults, and elderly people required their own set of rules based on their lifestyle. The "owner's" unit is a multi-story 3 bedroom home with expansive private patio space and yard. The accessible unit provides a very easy to navigate floor plan but still includes slight sectional changes. The two upper SRO units also have private space which is completely away from the rest of the units to allow everyone to enjoy their own lifestyle. However, there are many opportunities provided for neighbors to meet or spend time together. Thus, each unit adopts its own unique floor plan and section yet retain certain diagrammatic similarities. The two renderings are of the 3 bedroom "owner unit," showing the living, dining and kitchen.
