CR-land Plaza is a mixed-use project with a pedestrian street and two towers representing the outcome of mixing traditional Jiangnan Garden art and modern architecture style. CR-land Plaza is unique because of its construction concept. The village park at a lower level of the project retains the antique bricks, tiles and exteriors of authentic traditional Chinese building. Its interiors, however, embodies a totally different aura with theme restaurants, bars, cafes, boutiques and art galleries. The exterior curtain wall, inspired by antique Chinese character ”山(Mountain)", aptly incorporates the modern glass curtain wall office twin towers and the traditional style village park, expressing the Chinese concept of "Yin and Yang (Two opposing principles in nature)".
JZFZ’s design concept for the village park incorporates Chinese courtyard experience to the planning level. Unlike Wide and Narrow Street (宽窄巷子) or Jin Li (锦里), where the experience is mostly inside the lots, the village park emphasizes accessibility of the public space. Although the park takes up only 9% of the total GFA, it is as important as the towers. The village park organizes activities and dynamics of the whole site on the ground level. Therefore the podium becomes a continuation of the park. The village park is not a cluster of generic blocks, neither an introverted mall, but a dynamic conglomerate that combines the strengths and eliminates the weaknesses of these two scenarios. Semi-public space and overhanging design act as bridges between the towers and the park and are created as outdoor extensions of indoor activities. The roof of the village park is also regarded as a new genre of terrain feature for the towers.
CR-land Plaza is awarded LEED® Gold certification(PreCert)in honor of its sustainable design solutions featured in the entire building.
