Inspired by Aloft Hotels, the space plan & decor mimic that of an urban-influenced, modern hotel, including a centralized reception desk upon entry, as well as an open lobby/living room to encourage social activity. Three types of standard bedrooms are designed to accommodate families, no matter the size. This design will allow guests to feel as though they are staying in a trendy, yet laid-back hotel on vacation. By Including open, collaborative spaces with internet access, board games and even fireplaces, guests feel more comfortable, as if they are in their own home. I plan on incorporating these areas into the Ronald McDonald House to give families this same type of feeling; a comfortable balance between what they know and do in their daily routines, to feeling as though they are "escaping" the realities they are currently dealing with, in order to get a more uplifting and positive outlook and mindset, even if it's just for the time being.
