About

As designers we have a responsibility to develop visions of what our world will be. These visions rarely come from a singular source and they shouldn't because our urban environments are our collective home. Therefore as a young designer I seek to develop my design skills not only for function and aesthetic, but also for mediation. Mediation between competing visions and mediation across scale and time.

Employment

ADG Inc, Oklahoma City, OK, US, Architectural Intern and BIM Model Manager

An experience where I collaborated on two teams, one architectural and one planning. One project was a historic redevelopment of a vacant tower in downtown Oklahoma City, and the other was the development of a form-based code for Broken Arrow, OK. This developed my skills in programming, design thinking, as well as community and client dialog.

Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, OK, US, Revit Teaching Assistant

A teaching assistantship helping teach individuals the basics of Revit and developing labs exercises. When doing so I learned better communication skills to explain ideas and concepts, as well becoming more familiar with the Revit.

LWPB Architects, Oklahoma City, OK, US, Architectural Intern

A summer internship and a following winter internship where I engaged in the documentation process of a school redevelopment project and a manufacturing facility planning project. Being my first experience in architecture this internship helped me develop my understanding of architectural process but more importantly taught me the value of being able to ask the appropriate questions to learn as much as possible from an experience.

Education

Washington University in St. Louis, Saint Louis, MO, US, Masters, Masters of Urban Design

A one year program that focused on urban issues at four levels: neighborhood, city, region, and the globe. Through the program I began to focus on the development of a city making process that shifts from the rigid, determined process that leads to a declining public realm. It instead becomes a process of city making that begins to be a more cyclical process that is flexible and adaptive.

Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, OK, US, BArch, Bachelors of Architecture

The program at OSU developed my architectural skills in a balanced way between both the technical and aesthetic aspects of architectural practice. There I developed my skills in spatial programming, presence of form, firm practice policies, and documentation.
