Conceived as an urban-scaled vitrine – a gracefully curved display of curated space – the 224-key boutique hotel has become the gathering place and heart of The Gulch.

Adjacent to the legendary music venue, The Station Inn, the building creates a landmark that integrates new and old elements of the city and, in the spirit of Nashville itself, welcomes everyone from short-term visitors to long-time locals. Inscribed along the radius of 11th Avenue South, the distinctive form establishes an anchor for the neighborhood and activates the pedestrian realm. The tower was intentionally pushed away from the highly active intersection of 11th Avenue South and 12th Avenue South, relieving space for the two-story composition of the ground floor restaurant and cantilevered second-floor terrace, addressing the scale of the immediately-adjacent two-story structures. Stacked above the contextual brick mass of the ground floor, the tower is clad in zinc-coated metal panels and full-height glazing. The glazing pattern of the tower facade is inspired by the railroad past of The Gulch neighborhood.

From arrival to check-out, the architectural design choreographs a unique visitor experience. Situated on a highly irregular and challenging site, public and private circulation routes have been woven throughout the building to provide a welcome, open arrival, carefully separating service and three kitchens from the guest experience. The inconspicuous, below-grade parking allows for private VIP elevator access to any floor in the building, including the dramatic 12th floor rooftop bar and terrace which boasts sensational roofscaping with a 9-ton ornamental tree and breathtaking 270-degree views of the Nashville skyline.

Designed in collaboration with New York-based Parts and Labor Design, custom interiors support a unique visitor experience with a sophisticated and uniquely Nashville vibe in the Marsh House, Killebrew Coffee, and rooftop bar L.A. Jackson.
