Villa || Paradis, Bergen

The project is situated in a classical residential area consisting of detached houses on a separated undeveloped plot, given space for a new single-family house. The size of the plot sets clear limitations in regards of size and placing of the building, and at the same time considering qualities as vistas, sunlight, and privacy.

The inclined site drops one floor level through the longitudinal section of the building. This potential of the sloped ground is utilised by freeing up all facades on ground level, and not filling towards any backwalls. The first floor is constructed as a bridge which stretches to the back laying slope. This approach is cost efficient and reduces the use of concrete, dynamite, and excavators, and at the same time opens for functional overbuilt outdoor spaces. This solution together with inbuilt and open balconies gives this close fitted site functional outdoor spaces, and at the same time connects the building to is context.
