About

I’m an architect born and raised in Tehran, Iran. I am a recent graduate from Harvard Graduate School of Design. I hold a Master of Architecture (M.Arch 2013) and Bachelor of Architecture (BS 2012). I am specialized in high performance building design, and the intersection of design and technology. I love animals, and enjoy travelling!

Employment

Transsolar, New York, NY, US, Project Engineer Intern

I am currently working as a project engineer intern at Transsolar Inc. in New York City. I’ve been working on different projects so far, and I’m currently the project engineer of Tianjin Juilliard School project in collaboration with DS+R architects. I’ve done both daylight analysis and participated in design charrettes with other consultants and designers involved in this project. I have also worked on Ryde Hub Precinct competition in collaboration with Architensions; Princeton Energy Vision with Behnisch Architekten and Hyundai Motor studio project in Beijing with 2 × 4 firm.

Gensler, Los Angeles, CA, US, Architectural intern

In summer, 2015, I did an internship at Gensler, Los Angeles where I worked on design development and double skin facade studies, energy analysis, daylight simulations and design and development of Lagos Residential and mixed use project in Lagos, Nigeria. I worked in a collaborative team including designers from interior design department, architectural designers at hospitality department and also designers from other offices within United States.

Education

University of California, Berkeley, PhD, PhD in Building Science and Technology

Developing immersive environments and design tools (AR/VR/MR) to inform design decisions. With Designated Emphasis in New Media and a minor in Human Computer Interaction.

Harvard University, Cambridge, MA, US, Masters, Master in design studies

My most recent studies have been focused on energy and technology in architecture, and I have taken courses relating to computation, fabrication, high performance buildings and building simulation . For my thesis, I focused on experimental and computational exploration of structures that transform between states of rigidity and flexibility as self assembly elements in low temperatures. My proposed method was based upon selectively rigidifying structural components in real-time through freezing of phase change materials embedded within flexible matters. This project also aimed to create a link between digital structural analysis and digital design and physical testing and prototyping. Additionally, I have instructed an ongoing workshop at the GSD for the daylighting simulator DIVA since Fall, 2015.
