These multi-family façade designs build on the graphic motifs introduced in Tabula Rasa through the addition of color. The diverse patterning opens the façade to a range of interpretation and speaks to a larger realm of cultural diversity which is so key to the identity of Los Angeles. Based on CMYK scripting, they create a language that is both abstract and legible. This draws the eye in and maintains visual interest, without being didactic. Rather than fade into the background, the bright colors create a unique sense of place. The color elevates the development to more than your standard multi-family housing project. It also contributes to the streetscape and the urban fabric by boldly lending its colors to conversation. As each project gets built around Los Angeles, they would act as a network of colorful beacons.
