USAF 332nd Expeditionary Civil Engineering Squadron - Tuskgekee Airmen during Operation New Dawn
Participated on the Joint Base Balad master plan project including draw down and future Iraqi Air Force F-16 bed down planning. Department of Defense contractor embedded within the USAF 332nd Expeditionary Civil Engineering Squadron - Tuskgekee Airmen. Assisted with the responsible draw down of forces in accordance with the status of forces agreement and base planning. Removal and relocation of 3,500 containerized housing units saved American taxpayers upwards of $175 million as well as reducing US Forces footprint. The services and responsibilities included but were not limited to: preparing and maintaining all real estate permits and evictions; preparing visualizations of the base land use through data collection and mapping software; conducting periodic inspections of occupied structures and terrain; maintaining inventory of structures, facilities, motor pools, and open spaces on base; developing and maintaining the base master plan; providing updates, briefs, and charts to the base operations manager as required for terrain/land management operations; and reviewing facilities to ensure proposed designs were in accordance with building code, UFC, AT/FP and DoD explosive standards. (6,300 acres, 25 km2, 20 km perimeter, 50,000 troops, $5 billion) This was the largest base in Iraq and the busiest airport in the world.
